Description

The attractively situated valley landscape of the Montafon is surrounded by very different Alpine regions: To the north rises the lonely Verwall, to the south the white splendor of the Silvretta and to the east the steep rocky flanks of the Rätikon. The hiking opportunities that the Montafon has to offer its guests are correspondingly varied. This Rother hiking guide presents 50 selected routes that lead to some of the most impressive viewpoints in the Montafon.

The hikes offer a nice mix of easy, enjoyable half-day hikes and more challenging routes in the area around Bludenz, Vandans, Schruns-Tschagguns, Gargellen, Gaschurn and the Vermunt and Silvretta reservoirs. The hikes around the Tilisuna hut are dominated by the landmarks of the Rätikon, Drusenfluh and Drei Türme. The Silvretta High Alpine Road enables excursions into the glacier world of the three-thousand-metre peaks, and those who prefer a more comfy pace can hike to one of the numerous alpine pastures that are open in summer and are situated in a tranquil location above the Montafon valley floor.

Each hike is presented with reliable directions, a map section with the route marked and a meaningful altitude profile. A clearly laid out brief information sheet contains details of the starting point, requirements, refreshment stops, variants and much more. GPS tracks are available for download on the Bergverlag Rother website.
<p
