<p>The 154 km long Rothaarsteig trail leads along the ridge of the Rothaargebirge mountains from Brilon in the Sauerland region to Dillenburg in the Dilltal valley. Past the legendary Bruchhauser Steinen, over the Langenberg, the highest mountain in North Rhine-Westphalia, through the weather kitchen of the Kahler Asten and through numerous nature reserves, the much-cited path of the senses takes you past countless springs that feed several of Germany's largest rivers (Ruhr, Weser, Lahn). The trail is described in detail in all its facets in six beautiful daily stages. In addition, the 53 km long Westerwald variant offers the option of extending the hike by two more days. Numerous information boards on history, culture, flora and fauna along the way not only appeal to the hiker's senses, but also allow them to take an intense look at the region's features.</p> <p
