By athletes for athletes
Speed Up - that is the motto that shapes every decision at Dynafit. Whether in winter or summer and from head to toe, you get the entire program as a mountain endurance athlete. Touring skis, bindings, and boots form a perfect interplay, complementing suitable clothing and equipment such as poles and backpacks. When summer comes around, you can master long adventures on the mountain with the superbly coordinated collections of trail running shoes, backpacks, poles, shorts, shirts, and jackets.
Active alpine endurance athletes have always determined both the development and structure of Dynafit. Behind the brand are people who are athletes themselves and who burn for their sport. They are active endurance athletes who set speed records, climb the highest mountains with their own lightweight equipment, and push themselves to the limit. The brand is on point with the needs of those who strive for the best alpine performance. It is precisely this striving that is also reflected in Dynafit's values.
Speed, lightness, performance, and technology
Speed, lightness, endurance, and technology are just four words, but these are precisely the four words that determine every process, development, and Dynafit product. In the search for the highest possible efficiency, Dynafit focuses on minimalism. "A little bit more than nothing." This simplistic approach makes the products incredibly light. The increased demand for trend-setting materials and technical innovations ensures the best possible performance. The combination of lightness, technology, and performance brings speed to the mountain, which is always one step ahead of the competition.
The best expression of Dynafit's values is the pin binding. Developed as early as 1988 by Fritz Barthel and his team, it continues to set standards today with constant further development. Only two small pins connect the touring skis to the ski boots - can that work? Absolutely! The pin binding has developed from a suspiciously eyed exotic to the norm. Today, about 70% of all ski touring bindings are pin bindings, and Dynafit is the international market leader. This binding is mainly used by athletes who look for low weight in their equipment and for whom high safety and reliability are essential. All Dynafit bindings are 100% manufactured in Germany to ensure the highest quality.
Humanic, Dynafit, and the lightness of being
In 1950, the Austrian company Humanic launched its first ski boots, and Dynafit would eventually emerge from this business line. Early on, the company relied on the know-how of athletes, who achieved great success with Dynafit ski boots. In 1973, Franz Klammer won the downhill race on the Planai in Schladming, and in 1976, the Olympic downhill in Innsbruck in his Dynafit ski boots. From 1974/75 to 1982/83, the Downhill World Cup went to Dynafit skiers eight times!
Further successes of Dynafit athletes followed, including another Olympic victory, this time by Leonhard Stock in 1980. The level of awareness grew, and so did the courage to innovate: in 1983, the world's lightest ski touring boot, the Dynafit Tourlite, was launched, and in 1984, the first tech ski touring binding, the Low Tech binding. Further innovations followed, such as the first alpine ski boots with Gore-Tex® Thermo Dry technology in the mid-1980s and the minimalist RC 1 binding with the ski boot of the same name. Together, they weigh in at just 575 grams.
These innovations look good on paper and are equally compelling in practice on the mountain. A fine example of this is the achievements of the Dynafit athlete team: in 2008, the Dynafit women's team covered the Chamonix-Zermatt-Alagna route (140km, 10,000Hm) in just 3 days - Haute Route Plus. In 2012, Dynafit athletes set a new speed record on Manaslu: they need less than 24 hours for the ascent and descent of Manaslu. After 15 hours and 3,300 meters of climbing and without oxygen, Dynafit CEO Benedikt Böhm stands at the summit of the eighth-highest mountain in the world. In 2019, he climbed Dhaulagiri VII in a new record time with the brand-new Superlite 150 binding and Blacklight skis.
The snow leopard - a logo with meaning
Dynafit has belonged to Salewa and, thus, to the Oberalp Group since 2003. This made them part of a family-run company in Bolzano. Still, they retained their company headquarters and head office in Munich. 2005 sees a spectacular new addition to Dynafit: the snow leopard makes its entrance. The choice of this graceful animal as the brand logo is entirely in line with the company's values. Fast-paced and elegant, the leopard moves through the world's highest peaks, perfectly adapted to life's enormous challenges. At these heights, they are kitted out with the perfect technology to get through the most challenging terrain seemingly effortlessly. To keep it that way, Dynafit cooperates with the Snow Leopard Trust to protect and preserve the snow leopard.
365 days in a year
Even though Dynafit's roots are in skiing, the mountains are fun all year round. In 2012, a summer collection for mountain runners joined ski touring equipment and clothing. That was logical because people who run up mountains in winter like to do so even without snow. Of course, not everyone has the mountains on their doorstep, but that doesn't matter. With the technical trail running range, Dynafit picks up all runners hunting for a new best time off the road. Shady trails in the forest, muddy riverside paths, steep summit climbs, and fast-paced downhills are the home of a collection designed from head to toe for ambitious athletes.
With or without snow, speed ascents are naturally at the top of the Dynafit agenda. Under the heading Alpine Mountaineering, you will find everything you need for fast-paced mountain adventures. Whether you're striving for records, like to travel light and at speed, or test your limits in a sky race, Dynafit is there for you 365 days a year. With speed, lightness, endurance, and technology, the efficient systems support you in living out your mountain time to the fullest.
